Basic Capabilities
Longwatch is a comprehensive system for collecting, displaying and managing video from a wide variety of locations in an industrial setting. Its basic capabilities include:
- Network Flexibility: Supports fiber, cable, satellite, cellular and wireless networks - even low-speed serial and proprietary instrumentation networks. Multiple protocols are supported on the same network for ease of installation and expansion.
- Recording at the Edge: Distributed Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) reduce network traffic and provide scalable video storage and easy video management.
- Autonomous Operation: Distributed DVRs continue monitoring events, collecting video, even taking action on events (such as pan-tilt-zoom operation, door lock/unlock and contact outputs) if the network is unavailable.
- Automatic video editing and delivery: Event messages are delivered with a short video clip showing conditions or activity before and after the actual event. Messages can also be sent to responders via e-mail or cell phone.
- Hardware Independence: Longwatch runs on standard Personal Computer hardware and software. It supports a wide variety of cameras and networks, stretching your capital and making your investment future-proof.
- Open Architecture: Longwatch integrates easily with a wide variety of applications to keep your support costs down and to make system ownership easier for you and your staff.
- Centralized System Management: Interactive configuration and system maintenance for the entire system is performed centrally; no field travel is required.
