Remote Video Engine (RVE)
The Longwatch Remote Video Engine is an industrial computer with an integrated digital video recorder, power supply, digital I/O and the Longwatch Video Engine (LVE) software. The RVE installs in the field and connects to the Longwatch Video Control Center (VCC) in the operations center. The RVE System Integrator's Edition provides the industrial RVE computer, with the Longwatch Video Engine software pre-loaded. This enables the system integrator to install the component in an existing cabinet or panel.

The RVE continuously records high quality video from up to six IP camera inputs or four analog cameras. The RVE can be configured to generate and transmit video event clips, streaming live video or DVR video files from remote sites back to a central plant using the existing communications infrastructure. These clips can be triggered by:
- IP camera-based video analytics,
- physical event triggers, such as door switches, motion detectors, PLC outputs, SCADA based alarms, or
- manually initiated from the SCADA system.
Additionally, the RVE can perform video image analysis to make any analog camera act as a motion detector.
The RVE is designed to leverage existing communication networks, operating effectively on 9600 baud networks as well as high speed networks. The RVE can emulate a Programmable Logic Controller or Remote Terminal Unit, thus appearing to the SCADA/HMI system as another PLC on the PLC network, without upsetting the normal operation of your SCADA/HMI system.
